new Delhi: The CBI has filed a charge sheet against the four accused in the alleged gang rape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit girl in Hathras (Uttar Pradesh). The CBI has made the last statement of the victim in its chargesheet as the basis. Counsel for the accused told reporters outside the court that the Central Investigation Agency has made charges of gang rape and murder against Sandeep, Lavkush, Ravi and Ramu and the local court in Hathras has taken cognizance.
Last rites performed in a hurry
Let me tell you that this Dalit woman was allegedly raped by four persons on September 14 in Hathras. During treatment, the victim died at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on 29 September. After this he was cremated at night near his house on the night of 30 September.
Questions were raised on the police
The woman’s family had alleged that the local police had pressurized her to conduct the funeral. However, local police officials said, “The funeral was done as per the wishes of the family”.
All four accused are in judicial custody
Officials said that the investigating agency has looked into the role of Sandeep, Lavkush, Ravi and Ramu, the accused in the case, who are in judicial custody. He said that various forensic investigations of the accused have also been done in the laboratory (laboratory) at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. CBI investigators also met the doctors of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital. The victim was admitted to the same hospital after the alleged gang rape incident.
Yogi government had to face criticism
The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh had to face widespread criticism over the matter. Later, the case was transferred to the CBI. The CBI set up a team to investigate the incident and entrusted the investigation work to its Ghaziabad (UP) unit. The team has recorded the statements of the victim’s family members.
