The wholesale price of onions in Azadpur Mandi, the biggest fruit and vegetable market in Asia, ranged from Rs 7.50 to Rs 17.50 per kg on Saturday. The wholesale price of potato is Rs 13 to Rs 44 per kg, while the wholesale price of tomato is Rs 12 to Rs 46.75 per kg. Azadpur Mandi Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) chairman Adil Ahmad Khan says that the prices of vegetables go up every year during the rainy season for inward inflows. He said that the supply is less than the demand, the major reason for the increase in prices of vegetables. Khan said that standing water in the fields in the rainy season, the crop has deteriorated, because of which there is less arrival and there is little hope of a fall in prices till the new crop comes.

Heavy rains and floods have destroyed crops

She said that it has become difficult to make kitchen budgets due to the inflation of vegetables. She said that for the Corona epidemic, the jobs of the people have gone and the salary of those who are in the job is being cut. The prices of pulses, oil, and vegetables are constantly increasing.
